I’m Thinking Of Selling: What Are the Top Three Things I Should Do to Prepare?

At Lifestyle Real Estate, it’s our aim to make sure that homeowners and home buyers in the Guelph area are educated about the buying and selling process.

Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing a series of videos to answer important questions related to home buying and selling.

This month, David Halls discusses the top three things every homeowner should do before selling their home

1. Clean, clean, clean!

Nobody wants to buy a messy or dirty house. If your home is untidy when you  put it on the market, it could affect your valuation and it will make a poor first impression on buyers. You can never clean too much before putting your home on the market!

2. Declutter

If you’ve been in your home for a few years, you’ve probably amassed a large amount of belongings that you may not necessarily need or use on a daily basis. But don’t worry - we all have too much stuff! We suggest clearing off shelves and countertops, and having a good purge of your closets to get rid of things you’ve been hanging onto that you don’t need. Clearing out your closets can help them appear larger.

3. Contact a Realtor®

The moving process, home buying process and home selling process are all complicated. There are lots of variables, steps and intricate details that you may not be aware of if you’re not a Realtor®. A Realtor® will help you every step of the way and make sure that every little detail is taken care of. Buying or selling a home is one of the largest transactions of your life, so you want a professional on your side.
